For those of you wanting to grow Heirloom and Landrace garlics, we now have seed garlic ready to ship for planting this fall. Seed garlic is different from table stock (garlic intended for consumption) because the garlic is beginning to change internally and prepare for planting; the clove tips are starting to green and the root nodes are beginning to swell, indicating that growth is at hand. These garlic still taste wonderful but over time the green shoot will emerge through the clove, making it less desirable for eating.
We are offering our farm-direct, organically grown Heirloom & Landrace Garlic seed this season for only $20 per pound with free shipping, a price unmatched anywhere. We want these unique garlics to be affordable so they can be discovered, grown and enjoyed by all of our friends, family, and wonderful customers who care about these special garlics as much as we do. And for those of you going really big in the field or garden this year, we have a "Buy 4 lbs, get 1 lb free" special, allowing you to stock up for only $16/lb! I have recently posted a page on how we grow our Heirloom and Landrace Garlics here at Abbott's Garlic Farm, with tips and suggestions for a successful harvest that can be found here. Planting season is upon us, and I hope you take this chance to try your hand at growing some of these remarkable garlics.
