SVEA is a Marbled Purple Stripe Variety of Garlic, a unique family of Heirloom Garlics known for their plump cloves, beautiful purple skins, and their long bulb storage ability (4 to 5 months on average, sometimes longer). This Landrace Garlic originates from the remote Kamchatka Penninsula, and is not for the faint of heart. It's untamed nature brings intense flavor along with the heat. SVEA, and other Marbled Purple Stripe Garlics in general, are also known for their superior roasting ability. When roasted, this variety becomes sweet, carmelized, flavorful and strong!
We ship our Svea garlic as unpeeled cloves (not whole bulbs) to best retain the quality of the product during shipping, and to greatly reduce shipping costs. The cloves will retain their strength and flavor for weeks if kept at room temperature with good air circulation. Avoid storing in the refigerator because these all natural, untreated cloves may begin to sprout.
